A Day of Vintage Shopping in Stonington, CT
Victoria Clare Vintage
If you love vintage furniture, interesting spaces, and a good treasure hunt, The Velvet Mill in Stonington is worth a visit.
START AT VICTORIA CLARE VINTAGE
My first stop is always Victoria Clare Vintage.
Paul and Jen have created a shop filled with vintage and mid-century furniture, original art, lighting, ceramics, decor, and one-of-a-kind finds. The inventory is always changing, which is part of the fun.
That’s what I love about vintage. You’re not buying something everyone else has. You’re finding pieces with character, history, and personality.
KEEP WANDERING
The Velvet Mill is also home to several other vintage and antique shops, including Fun and Funky Vintage, Unit 88, 21st Century Antiques, Granary Farmhouse Antiques, and more.
Every shop feels different, so it’s easy to spend a few hours exploring.
MORE THAN VINTAGE
The Mill is also filled with artists, makers, food, drinks, wellness businesses, and small shops.
Grab something to eat at Whitecrest Eatery, Meryl + Masa, or one of the many other great spots, browse the studios, or visit the Stonington Village Farmers Market on Saturdays.
A LITTLE HISTORY
The Velvet Mill dates back to the late 1800s and was once home to a major velvet manufacturing operation.
Today, it’s been transformed into a creative community of local businesses and makers.
There’s something I love about shopping for old pieces with new lives inside a building that has been given a new life of its own.
MAKE A DAY OF IT
Start at Victoria Clare Vintage, wander the Mill, grab something to eat, and see what you discover.
That’s the best part, you never really know what you’re going to find.
